About The Project

The 5 Minute Project is curated by Dana Pugh and began as a personal project on her family blog Pughville. On this blog, she invites 7 regulars  to play along and document 5 minutes in their own lives. This can be done in video, stills, audio, iPhone…but, however it is done, the documenting can only occur for a 5 minute timeframe. The editing and presentation of the final project is left entirely up to it’s author.

To participate, you can simply document 5 minutes of your life. The spirit of this project is keep it unplanned, unstaged, just 5 ordinary minutes. Of course, 5 minutes can be extraordinary, too, but I want to see the beauty in the mundane not 5 minutes of a portrait sitting. With that in mind, send the best of what you get in 5 minutes to the email address the5minuteproject@gmail.com with the subject ‘submission’. Include web sized images at 725px wide 72dpi free of watermarks (jpegs only please). Include the link you would like us to link to should we choose your work (website/blog/facebook/instagram). The very best of the submissions will be featured periodically(there is no schedule for this). For the best chance at being chosen, make sure to choose only your best images from the 5 minutes and size them properly.

I have decided to add a new type of project for 2015. This year, we will include the idea that 5 minutes is a short and sweet creative project. So…the result might be one image. It might be a collaboration. It might be a combination of creative and collaboration…the new (and amazing group) for 2015 will work that out as we go along.

This started out as a sort of ‘whim’ for me, but has turned into something so much more than that so quickly. Thank you all for following along. You can also find us on Facebook (link on the side) and instagram as ‘the5minuteproject’.
